Privacy Policy
What Vayoru collects, why, and what stays only on your device.
Quick facts
Vayoru is powered and developed by TWS (https://tws.co.ke). This Privacy Policy explains what information Vayoru processes, based on how the app is actually built, and your rights under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
We haven't registered a separate legal entity for Vayoru beyond TWS. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name it.
Information Vayoru processes
Vayoru's task manager, expense tracker, personal journal, and calendar are built around content you create directly in the app:
Task data
- Task title, notes, and checklist items
- Due date and time
- Priority (Critical, High, Normal, or Low)
- List
- Completion status
Calendar data
- Event title, timing, and notes
- Category
- Repeat setting
- Any reminder attached to the event
Calendar events are stored on your device. Vayoru V1 does not connect to Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other external calendar, so there is nothing to sync and nothing to share.
Expense data
- Amount, and whether it's an expense or income
- Category
- Date and time
- Note
- Your monthly budget, if you set one
Expense and income information you enter is for your own personal tracking and organization; Vayoru does not connect it to any bank, mobile money, or financial account.
Journal data
- Entry content, and entry type (Daily, Reflection, Gratitude, Idea, or Achievement)
- An optional mood tag
- Optional free-text tags
- An optional photo attachment
- Entry date
Journal entries can be highly personal. We do not read, scan, or analyze the content of your journal entries. A photo attachment is entirely optional and, like everything else in your journal, is stored only on your device.
Notification data
When a task or calendar event has a due date and time, Vayoru schedules a local reminder directly on your device's operating system. This is a local, on-device notification, not a remote push notification sent from a server, and no notification content is transmitted to us.
Local data vs. server data
This is the most important part of this policy, so we're stating it plainly: **tasks, expenses, journal entries, and calendar events you create in Vayoru are stored locally on your device**, in a local SQLite database. They are not uploaded to a Vayoru server, are not included in any cloud backup we operate, and are not shared with third parties.
Vayoru does not currently use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting tools. If that changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the update will describe exactly what is collected, why, and where it is stored.
Permissions
- **Notifications** → Needed to schedule and display local reminders for tasks and calendar events with a due time. → Optional. → If declined, Vayoru still works fully; you simply won't receive reminder notifications.
- **Photos or media** → Needed only if you choose to attach a photo to a journal entry. → Optional, and only requested when you tap "Add a photo." → If declined, Vayoru still works fully; journal entries just won't have a photo attached.
We only request permissions the app actually uses. We do not request access to your camera, contacts, or location.
Data sharing
Vayoru does not share, sell, or rent your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. We do not currently integrate any analytics, advertising, authentication, cloud storage, or payment provider. If a future version of the app integrates a third-party service, this section will name the provider, what it processes, and why, before that version ships.
If you contact us through this website's contact form, the name, email, and message you submit are used only to respond to you, and are not shared with third parties.
Data retention
Tasks, expenses, journal entries, and calendar events remain on your device for as long as you keep them, and are removed when you delete them individually or uninstall the app; we don't impose an arbitrary retention period on content that never leaves your device.
Your rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and as a matter of good practice generally, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your information is processed (this policy)
- Access the information Vayoru holds about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Object to processing, where applicable
- Request deletion or erasure of your information
- Request restriction of processing or data portability, where applicable
Because Vayoru's core content lives on your device, you can already exercise most of these rights directly in the app: editing or deleting a task, expense, or journal entry immediately corrects or erases it. For anything else, including questions about this policy, contact us using the details on our Contact page.
Changes to this policy
If Vayoru's data practices change (for example, if we introduce accounts, cloud sync, or analytics), we will publish an updated version of this policy with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Kenya, including the Data Protection Act, 2019. Any dispute arising from or relating to this policy will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
