Building a simple daily journaling habit
A few honest notes on starting a journaling habit with Vayoru - and why short entries beat perfect ones.
The hardest part of journaling isn't writing - it's starting, especially on days that felt unremarkable.
Start smaller than feels necessary
A journal entry doesn't need to be long. "Today was a productive day" followed by two or three sentences is enough to build the habit. You can always write more when you have more to say.
Pick an entry type and, if you want, a mood
Marking an entry Daily, Reflection, Gratitude, Idea, or Achievement takes a second and makes your history easier to skim later. The mood tag - Great, Good, Okay, Low, or Difficult - is entirely optional.
Tag it and add a photo if it helps
Free-text tags make entries easier to find later, and you can attach a photo if a picture says something words don't - it's optional, and it stays on your device.
Write at the same point each day
Whether it's first thing in the morning or right before bed, a consistent moment makes journaling something you do automatically rather than something you have to remember.
Your entries are yours
Your journal is stored on your device. You can edit or delete any entry whenever you like.
